I downloaded and printed out FedEx's Military Leave policy today

Gathered a lot of Newspaper articles about Iraq today. Also downloaded FedEx’s Military Leave policy.

Man, we are going to struggle financially while I'm deployed. and the minimum deployment time will be around 18-24 months. I don't know how we can financially manage this.

Here is part of the FedEx policy regarding military deployment:

Job Placement Upon Return to Work

Employees entitled to return to work that are in the service:

90 days or less

Must be placed in the job that they would have held if their continuous employment had not been interrupted.

90 days to 24 months

Must be placed in the job that they would have held if their continuous employment had not been interrupted, or in a position of like seniority, status, and pay.
FedEx Services makes reasonable efforts to qualify “unqualified” returning employees for their new position. However, if reasonable efforts fail, the employee must be placed in a position of like seniority, status, and pay.

Compensation and Benefits

Employees who are reemployed are entitled to the same rights and benefits determined by the Company continuous service that they had on the date they left for duty, as well as any additional rights and benefits that they would have attained if they had remained continuously employed. Compensation eligibility is based on the same criteria as for Salary Increases.

Employees on military leave may elect to continue their health care coverage but not for longer than 24 months or the day after the date on which the employee is terminated, or fails to report or reapply for employment. Terminated employees may elect to continue their health care coverage in accordance with COBRA provisions.

I must:

Over 180 days, but less than 24 months - Must submit a request to return from leave to their manager no later than 90 days after the completion of their duty.
