Formal Announcement of my Mobilization to FedEx

Madelyn,

I just wanted to follow up from our conversation regarding the Alert to Deployment that I received on May 8. This alert is for the 155 SAB, with headquarters in Tupelo, MS, which is my unit. Our actual deployment dates, duties and destination are not currently known, but it is nearly certain that I will be deployed to combat duty, with the highest probability to Iraq.

The most probable date that I would enter Active Military Duty is sometime between June 8, 2004 and September 15, 2004 and the term of activation is typically 18 months. However, none of these dates are firm at this time, and I will notify you immediately when I receive more precise information.

I want you to know that I will endeavor relentlessly to tie up all incomplete development and staffing projects, complete my documentation of systems, and plan for future developments prior to my departure. I will look forward to returning to my position upon my completion of military duty, and will maintain my focus up to the time of my departure. I feel that I will bring back to the team more experience and knowledge when I return, and will continue to be a valuable member of your team.

The alert has now been announced by all the news media, and is public knowledge. Oftentimes rumors will float regarding these activations, and I will keep you up to date as to the officially known information.
